PAINTING OF THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2012 -SEE FERGAL'S HOME PAGE IN PORTFOLIOS

Fergal wishes seasons greetings to all the artists who took part in his workshops and also to those who purchased my paintings during the year. Much appreciation to you all for your support. Here's to a good painting year ahead in 2012.

NEWS ; The trip to Sardinia went extremely well with excellent weather for painting. Congratulations to all the artists who participated in the week's course and it was a pleasure to tutor you all as you were a very receptive group. The amount of paintings completed was exceptional particularly as some had not painted outdoors for some time. Congratulations to Denise,Christine,Morag,Gloria,Heather,Jane,Cathy,Mary,Joan, Lily and Freda- not forgeting non painter Brenda who enjoyed watching the artists capture the beauty of the old town of Alghero together with viewing Bosa and Stintino on our excursions out of Alghero.

Congratulations and many thanks again to our organiser Christine O'Neill from the Burren Painting Centre whose itinerary each day was full of interest for the artists. The situation of our hotel El Balear allowed us to walk to the old town along the seafront for painting giving the artists great choice of painting locations. Our trips out led us to Bosa - a beautiful town situated on the Temo River and a painters paradise, and also to Stintino and Cabo Del Falcone where we painted the harbour in the morning and visited and sketched the coastline in the afternoon.

We had some exceptional meals on our trip culminating in the final night at Restaurant Paco where we were served an 8 course meal which we will all remember. See Fergal's home Page for the photos. In 2012 I will be tutoring a course in Tuscany in October. See www.burrenpainting centre for details.

NEWS  The one day workshop in the Bay Garden, Camolin. Co Wexford on wednesday 13th July was a great success. 7 artists participated in the painting day working in oils. The weather was fantastic with blue skies all day. The day commenced with a garden tour by Frances MacDonald after a welcoming cup of tea. Following the tour Fergal gave a demonstration in laying out composition and commencing a painting. Lunch was served in the tea rooms- home made quiche with bay garden green salad and potato salad followed by strawberries and cream.Tea and coffee were available for the afternoon which was spent by the artists completing their own paintings. Many thanks for all who helped make the day a success. Thanks to Yanny Petters for driving me to Camolin as I am unable to drive at present due to a recent operation. Thanks also to Iain and Frances MacDonald for their hospitality on the day and the beautiful lunch which they provided and the magnificent gardens which they have developed over the years. A painters paradise for colour, form and composition. Photos of Fergal demonstrating are shown in Fergals Home Page. Have a look. Hope to make this day an annual event.

 NEWS :

Fergal's course in the Burren and Inishoir went well with the group able to paint outdoors everyday. The first day was in Mullaghmore and although it was windy everybody got a painting done. The second day was at the ancient cathedral in Kilfenora and the high cross. A better day with some good paintings done. Some artists only attended the two days in the Burren. A group of eight came with me to Inishoir and we had two fine days on the island. I did a demonstration in oils of the island looking towards the Clare coast and some beautiful cloud formations. Thanks again to all the artists, Brid Poll B & B on Inishoir, The Fisherman,s Cottage for food and lodgings and also to Chris O'Neill for her organisational skills. A good time was had by all. See photos on Fergals Home Page. This year 2012 Fergal will be tutoring his dual course in the Burren and Inishoir commencing Friday 25th May and finishing on Wednesday 30th May.
